and tossed his head, which resulted in a bit going down his cheek instead of in his mouth, and right after, he either spit out some or spit up some. Either way, he didn't much like the meds. I gave him a little whipped cream afterwards to take the bad taste out of his mouth, and he was amenable to that. He then got up in my lap and instead of curling up like usual, he just sort of...sprawled. Definitely feeling the medicine. He wound up dropping his head right down onto my leg, burying his face. I thought he was asleep...he stayed that way for about an hour, then Dad walked through the living room and headed for the kitchen. That roused Leo...but after he jumped down and took a couple steps, his back legs gave out and he just toppled over. He didn't seem too distressed about it but it brought back horrible memories of my last cat's last days. Peppermint developed severe kidney issues and one day, her last day on Earth, she couldn't stand. She was crying and struggling to stand. Leo just...flopped. I picked him up and carried him to his food bowl and water bowl; he took a couple steps and his back legs gave out again, so that he was half sitting, half laying on the floor. He rallied enough to have a few crunchy kitty treats, then he barely managed to make it back to the living room, swaying but not plopping. I made him an extra cozy nest, using my old robe to add a layer of fluffy warmth to the recliner he likes to sleep in, and I sat on the couch. He jumped (barely) on me, then decided he wanted on the recliner and jumped (barely) down and (barely) jumped up on the recliner, where he finally curled up and went back to sleep. I *know* it's the drugs but...it's upsetting me to watch. I have to give him a second dose tomorrow before his trip to the vet and then after that, I hope it's a long time before I have to give him gabapentin again.
