takeout pizza and ribs, plus a salad. For years, poor Mom hosted Christmas Eve dinner with my brother's family and then Christmas Day breakfast with Dad's family and did ALL the cooking herself. She never got to the point where she asked anyone to help with Christmas breakfast, aside from asking Dad to scramble eggs (which a) he has some weird kind of magic touch with scrambled eggs--he doesn't do anything different than most of us but his come out light and fluffy every single time, and b) he was happy to hide out in the kitchen and cook rather than mingle with the guests, even though they were HIS family). But she did eventually agree to get takeout on Christmas Eve. We used to have a place in town that did OUTSTANDING pizza AND ribs but they moved. Frankly, I'm not a big fan of ribs so since we stopped doing Christmas Eve with bro's family, we've cut out the ribs (Dad doesn't love them either). I might get Dad some boneless chicken wings, as he really likes those.
