week of January. I'm mightily confused this year...Google says " Twelfth Night" is January 5, because technically the first day of Christmas is Dec. 25th but I've always heard Twelfth Night, aka "Little Christmas", Eastern Orthodox Christmas, or as Pablo said, Dia De Los Reyes, was January 6. Either way, the decorations stay up until some time after then. When I was working, it was usually whatever Saturday was after January 6, or ON January 6 if it fell on a Saturday.

As much as I gripe about having to drag down the Christmas decorations and put them up, I *never* get tired of looking at them and hate to see then come down (and not just because of the work to take them down). I will leave up a few snowman or non-decorated tree-themed items until spring. Dad's always grateful to have the love seat put back in its "right" place. It's usually in front of the big picture window, but it gets moved to a different spot and replaced by the Christmas tree each year. As much time as Dad spends sitting or stretched out (as much as he can, being 6'4") on the love seat, he's always happy to get his "spot" back. It's much harder to read a book while sitting on the love seat when it's not in front of the window; we simply don't have enough light in the living room.

This year, I really feel for poor Leo. Last year, he almost completely ignored the Christmas tree but this year, he's discovered the joy of napping on the velvet tree skirt and has done so every day for the entire time the tree's been up (about 3 weeks now). He's going to be lost when his "bed" disappears.
