that level of devastation must be horrible to see first hand. my heart just hurts when i see the follow ups on the news.

We didn’t have any issues with Maui restaurant's and ate at some really cool places. We just made sure to be patient and treat everyone with kindness and compassion and also to tip well.

oh yes, tip VERY well. I can't think of a better place to spend money right now.

If you are interested in Costa Rica, I recommend using one of the online travel agents/consultants. We used one and he literally planned everything that we wanted. We just told him where we wanted to go, what we wanted to do and he gave us options for all of it and he even planned drivers for us to get around. And it was surprisingly not expensive! Send me a message if you want more details.

that's a really good idea. there's just no way I would be able to plan it myself. I always go for the hotels that arrange your transfers, you know? to make it easy and seamless. A proper travel agency would be able to help me.

thanks so much for the suggestion!

Bali is also on our list for someday!

it is not as expensive as you would think, but the travel to get there is really rough. We fly straight through, no days in Europe or in the Pacific islands. New York to Milan; Milan to Dubai; Dubai to Bali. No longer than an hour in Milan and maybe 3 in Dubai. on the way home, we did Bali to Dubai; Dubai to New York. Layover was 3 hours.

We arrived in Bali in the afternoon and it was a 3 hour drive to our resort. We ate dinner and went to bed. and spent the entire next day sleeping it off. But when we got up on the 2nd morning, we were acclimated to the time and didn't have any other issue. Until we came home.

It took 2 weeks for me to get right from that trip and be able to sleep in a normal rhythm. We always said that if we were to go back, we'd spend a day or two in Europe to break it up, and on the way home, stay a night or two in Hong Kong or Singapore.

And it's still the best trip I've ever taken in my whole life. I saw some incredible places and met some incredible people.
