You usually see them in higher elevations or colder climes (ie the coast, Bay Area, North Bay and the Sierras) but I'm now seeing multiple reports of sightings right here in Sac and nearby Elk Grove (eeee). I saw one in Roseville (Sierra foothill city just north of us) last year and I was actually quite surprised. Made me wonder...well...there you go.
Second, SMF (Sacramento Int'l Airport) was rated as #1 for stress-free travel. YES. It is such an easy airport to get thru, and we rarely have flight delays. It's a hub for Southwest, and I think Alaska Airlines. If you're flying from LA to Portland, there will often be a layover here. Anyway, it's such a pleasant airport, I never kvetch about having to go there.
