My friend suggested it and her dad just died so I wasn't looking to suggest Lisa Frankenstein instead.
I noticed it only had 40% on Rotten Tomatoes, so I guess my expectations were low, but honestly... it was a good time.
It follows a very tight period of his life and it only briefly gets into things like all the kids he had outside of his marriage -- but in a lot of ways that's not so much what I'm interested in about Bob Marley. It starts just before he's shot and it ends when he goes back to Jamaica after he records Exodus. I definitely think they could have gone a bit deeper around things like why he was shot, his Rastafarianism and his music, but honestly? It was fun. Some people got up and danced in the aisles. also, it's February. It was nice to listen to his music and see the images of the ocean and Jamaica.
It's made by his family, so it's certainly what they want to share about him. I think it's hard to capture someone who was that influential and made that big an impact. But again: It's a good film to watch when it's cold outside. If you are familiar with him, his music, and/or Jamaica, I recommend it.
