Marcel the Shell with Shoes On. I don’t even know how to describe this, but it is sweet and funny and hopeful, and I loved it.

All of Us Are Strangers. Evidently, several critics named this as a movie that should have received an Oscar nomination. It starts out with a weird meeting between two men and veers off into territory I never expected. It’s sad and deals with the effects of grief, so pick your moment.

After Yang. This is about a family whose AI companion goes on the blink. It asks hard questions like what is life, what is death, what makes us human, and what makes someone family. Detractors said it was slow, but I thought it was perfectly paced and beautifully done.
