I finished "The Angel Of Indian Lake" by Stephen Graham Jones. I'd give it an A-. It's the final book in his Jade Daniels trilogy and I really enjoyed it. It was bittersweet to see the series come to an end but he saved the best villain for her to battle until the end. Jade is awesome and I love her.

"Scrublands" by Chris Hammer. I'd say maybe a B+. I mainly read it because I planned to watch the mini-series made out of it (airing on AMC+ now).
In a rural little town in the Outback of Australia, a beloved priest opens fire on his congregation outside of the church, killing 5 people. A year later, a reporter named Martin Scarsden is send to do a puff piece on the town, how it's recovering, how the people are doing, etc. Only the more questions he asks the less the answers add up to the "official story" told to the public a year ago. I thought it started out a little dry but once it picked up the pace it was really good. The end was ok but I suspect the mini-series will tighten the "why" of it all up some, which I think it needs.

Apparently there is more books in the Martin Scarsden series that I might check out.

Otherwise I've been reading some fanfic cause sometimes you just want a little off-screen fun with your favorite characters. 😁
