They either get too much of a crop or not enough of a crop. Tomatoes tend to grow pretty well around here...and earlier this morning, my neighbor's wife (who, uh, is also my neighbor but not the one so big into gardening) came by on her way to work and not only brought me a tomato stake, she put it up herself. I've set the tomato plant near the mint, hoping the mint smell will deter some of the wildlife (plus the deer rarely get that close to our porch), plus I'm planning on spraying the leaves with a garlic-infused water later. Maybe add some Irish Spring shavings around the edges to keep out the smaller vermin?
