tornados have come very close in the past and caused minor damage. Not this time! Saturday night north Tx was hit with a Cat 3 tornado that hit our rural area. I watched radar and weekend TV coverage as it approached hoping it would be slightly north of us. It hit us about 10:30 right on schedule according to the TV coverage which by that time was unavailable because we lost electricity. Hubby is asleep and I had a heck of a time waking him. I tried to get him in the interior small room but he wanted to watch and pace. The house shook like crazy, wind was strong and loud but we made it through and so did our house!

We have many trees which are heavily damaged but most likely saved our house. The neighbors who have limited trees had devastating damage. Our nearest neighbors who is about a city block away from us lost the whole house, his kids both lost roofs. Our next nearest neighbors lost roofs or partial roofs. Power lines down all around us, we just got our power back which I thought it would take at least a week. The tornado tracked three miles east and continued it's destruction, killing 5 souls, two children among them.

We're so lucky and blessed. We have all we need which in truth is just shelter and each other...... Cleanup is difficult because we continue to get high winds and rain. What a crappy May! I went to Dallas to stay with relatives and this morning we had hail, 70 MPH winds and rain, I came home and they still have no power.

We're so ready for the summer heat which will burn off all this humidity and storms. I think I'll have a glass of wine and relax tonight and try to calm down hubby who is dealing with a dead cell phone in the most childish way....I mean really, men!
