I think I told the board recently that my husband has a neurological issue.

He was finally diagnosed with a form of peripheral neuropathy yesterday. Not the diabetic kind. It's an autoimmune condition where his nervous system stops properly communicating with anything below the knee and below the elbows.

For years now, he thought the weakness he was experiencing in his legs and hands was due to his work schedule.

FINALLY a doctor actually listens. This is the third time that Kaiser - often pilloried - has diagnosed odd ailments we both have.

It's not ALS, MS or any life-threatening illness.

But, it will be debilitating and he will finally have to retire in the semi-near future. We will also need to move to a one story home, but likely next year.

He will get PT and OT, and some gadgets to help him, but his mobility will continue to decline.

We're here for him.
