A mini poll for Monday: how long after a meal is cooked and consumed

should the dishes be done?

This is an ongoing point of contention between Dad and me. I don't believe in letting dishes pile up in the sink or anything but I *do* believe it's OK to wait an hour or two for your meal to digest before tackling the dishes. OTOH, Dad would practically take the plate out of your hand as you're gobbling up the last bite. If I don't wash my dishes IMMEDIATELY after making and eating my meal, it bothers him. Most of the time he won't say anything...but sometimes he does.

I suppose if we used the ancient dishwasher we have (it's not been used in close to five years; we only tend to use it when hosting a family dinner and dirtying a LOT of pots, pans and dishes), this would be less of an issue...but it would still be a matter of at least giving the dishes a quick rinse and then putting them in the dishwasher.
