it takes them THAT long to film, edit etc. When we have broadcast networks churning out 18-22 episodes.

I watch P-Valley on Starz. They had 8 episodes for seasons 1 & 2 and just resumed filming season 3 recently, which we probably won't get until late 2024.

Season 1 premiered 2020
Season 2 2022 (pandemic delays)
Season 3 2024? (writer/actor strike delays)
