It's generally on par with acting and writing, the people involved were involved with GoT so while you don't have to have watched GoT to get into House of the Dragon, it feels very much like part of the same universe. It is...a bit more insular? I don't think it's really a spoiler to say it's predominantly based on one family, lol, as the title implies - the house of the dragon, AKA the Targaryens. So it's generally not something where characters go endlessly without ever interacting or being in the same room, because the scope just isn't as broad on the whole.
