El Chico and I always triple check Google Maps has "avoid toll roads" whenever we drive through Chicago because IL doesn't send out notices until after they're late, and it's a pain checking daily until your license plate is in the system...which sometimes doesn't happen until after it's late.

Youch...that doesn't seem right.

Total ripoff.

It IS. I am so spoiled...I can count on maybe two hands the number of times I've had to drive on a toll road. I stick to I-90 if I'm going east or west and I-71 if I'm going south. Admittedly, I'm spoiled that I live reasonably close to both those roads.

The PA turnpike is one of my least favourite roads I have ever driven on anywhere. I hated it as a kid. I haven't been on it since 2009 thankfully...

And they didn't even have great travel plazas! Bff teases me about my obsession with travel plazas--the one thing I actually like about going the route with tolls--and says I like them so much, I should just vacation at one. I don't remember exactly where we were on our trip up to Montreal (I wasn't driving) but yeah, the travel plaza we stopped at for dinner? I *totally* would stay there for a few days <g>.
