the 2nd season only loosely follows the book in that it's set in the same physical location, there are generally the same cast of characters and yes, they are all still vampires.
Lestat's spirit seemingly haunting Louis at every turn was spectacular - and not in the book - because it meant no Lestat drought, like in the book. the actor that plays Lestat is just so phenomenal, he captures everything Lestat is supposed to be in the books.
The time-frame, the couplings, the kidnapping of Daniel, all of that very different than in the book, but it was artfully changed in a way that really did make the story seem new and different.
I like nuClaudia, I liked her girlfriend, i don't know if the show did their characters justice during "there was nothing i could do" and while it was very nice to hear Lestat's side of things, I was left wanting more confrontation between the 3 main persons on that stage.
i am very much looking forward to the season finale, and did you hear they just announced S3? The Vampire Lestat is the 2nd book, and it seems like they are going to follow suit on the show. more Lestat? Sign me UP.
I'm glad I stuck with it, but man was S1 super, super painful for me to watch. lol
