A lady from my church gave me a plant that's supposed to repel mosquitoes. Her instructions included a lot of "All you have to do" phrases, so it may not be long for this world. I'm giving it a try. I put it outside on the stoop in front of my daughter's door. We'll see if the dogs leave it alone.
Good news! We got one test result back for the dog that had surgery on Tuesday. The lump under her jaw was benign and totally removed. We're waiting for results on the three masses on her side. She's already taking the stitches out. When she gets the CoS removed for meals and snacks, I'm sometimes slow in putting it back on, so she helps herself. She also rolls around in the dirt/grassy stuff (we don't have a lawn) and that also loosens the stitches. I cut off about a three inch thread and a one inch thread on Saturday. I left the shorter thread on the incision site this morning.
Saturday, when I removed her CoS to feed her breakfast, it didn't have the tie on it. I eventually found it outside in the yard...but the CoS was still around her head. She can pull it off. She does when I feed her, but she's not always very cooperative when I try to put it back on her. She turns her head to the side, ducks, tries to get up and leave. Eventually, she accepts it and lets me put on the cone...sometimes with a burp as I'm bending over to tie it. Nice. Still a bit of a fight to get her to take her antibiotic. She doesn't seem to mind the anti-inflammatory medication. She's only spit out the antibiotic once or twice. That means that she takes it without any food, especially if I find it after she's been fed, since I give it to her before her meals.
I hate playing nursemaid to her because she's not a good patient. Only about another week. She's scheduled to have (what's left of) her stitches removed next week.
