IA that it's best for a senior who doesn't need constant medical supervision to remain at home as long as possible. But that shouldn't be at the expense of a loved one. It seems there's frequently an adult child or two (or more) that either can't help or simply won't, and that not only wears on the one(s) helping, it can fray family relationships. It's good that your husband and his siblings are talking this out, and I hope they can come to a resolution that makes...well, I was going to say "everyone happy" but that's probably not even possible.
Yeah, you can't make every one happy. 10 "kids", spouses and mom. But, if a majority or even half of the "kids' can agree that's a big deal. Hubby went up last night to talk to his mom about this and it didn't go so well. :((
Still looking for a job. Being a bit picky (location and pay) because I can only drive so far in the winter months and while I will take a small pay cut for the right job; there is no way I am working for $15/hr again. If I wanted that, I could go to Target or Kohls tomorrow.
I can relate. I had a frustrating week last week; I applied for six jobs, two of which would be only part-time. I don't love the idea of working part-time right now but part-time is better than NO-time. Three places totally ghosted me. I'm technically not qualified for a fourth and after having to apply a second time (the first on Indeed, the second with the organization itself), I've not heard anything from them either. The fifth and sixth jobs are the part-time jobs; they're nationwide companies and their websites made it sound like they desperately need help...all I've gotten back from them is "thanks for your application--we'll be in touch!". Right now around here, even the "entry" level jobs seem to want you to have 1-2 years' experience in the field. I'm talking waiting tables and being a cashier, not anything complicated.
Being ghosted sucks. and yes, part-time is better than nothing. I *hate* that they want years of experience for "entry" level jobs. I'm hoping something good for you happens soon.
I did work at Kohls a few Christmas seasons so I'm sure I could get hired there if worst comes to worst; but I don't really want to go back to retail.

Thank you! This is where I'm in a bit of better spot than you. I'm getting some leads off of Indeed with my resume on there. Unfortunately, most of them are in Pittsburgh - which will not work for varying reasons. I applied yesterday after I got home for a job at about the limit of my driving during the dark months (winter). They want me to take some tests. I've already done 1 and got "proficient" on it. Might do the other test when I get home today. It will be late enough they can't do anything to respond with the holiday.
And I just got an email for a possibility from Indeed. I will have to check the job out later. My computer here at work is too public to use for job searches.
