Yep - I'm a huge appreciator of Greek mythology going back to childhood.

I just think it's not that odd to not consider it similar to The Last Supper because of the following:

1. Jesus is not blue.
2. Jesus was sitting at the table.
3. There were 12 apostels, who were all leaning towards Jesus, not 17 drag queens milling around.
4. Jesus didn't wear grape leaves in his hair.
5. One drag queen did have a renaissance-style halo headpiece but that is not the style depicted by Da Vinci.

So I feel like missing that people might look at this and read it as The Last Supper is forgivable. Blue man lounging on top of table eyeing the camera is just such a different vibe to me.

ETA: I do agree with you about censorship, but you know the clapback is going to be people not wanting hate speech, etc. I think it's best to really look into something like this, though, now more than ever. There is so much misinformation out there and I think we need to be curious and to really examine things like is a staunchly Catholic nation like France going to mock Jesus in the opening ceremonies, and is this possibly referencing something else that might be outside of the most immediate American perspective. It's a global event hosted in a European country so while I think North America was almost bizarrely well-represented (Celine Dion for my country, Serena Willians for your -- but I remain stunned about Carl Lewis) it's not the POV of the people who put together the show.

I think we all have that moment of feeling upset about something we see on the internet and then later finding out it's false. I think that happened to me last week, maybe? It's just such a consistent battle now and it does impact our lives a lot. Particularly when I see situations (not this one, necessarily) where someone just will not admit that they were wrong when the evidence is presented. I can't tell you how often I see people insist on something that is now proven to have not happened. It's leaving us open to a lot of international attack, bizarrely.
