if she'd even go. My nephews won't. (Though. Maybe the 16 yo would now. He's both doing great and struggling. We worry about him but he's very communicative which feels like a miracle.)

You've reminded me that I can call the EAP, though, and see what resources are available.

Actually, I have one other bit of advice that you're already following: just be there for the kids. Continue to be the stabilizing (and GOOD) influence that you are and that they need and remind them you are on their side and will be there for them.

Thank you. Even that can start to feel like it's bad for her sometimes. We took her up to my newfound brother's cottage last week and she had the greatest time. Five days of playing with my other brother's niece (same age) in the woods, picking blueberries, swimming off the dock, having campfires, going on boat rides. They even had a fort. But then we have to take her home and it's painful to see how much she doesn't want to go back.

I'm so sorry this situation is what it is, and I hope improvement is on the horizon.

Well, never say never. Her father got me to the point where I just gave up on him and then somehow he got sober. So I guess her mother could theoretically get there. But I very much suspect that is not how this story is going to end.
