I think they could have chosen any other day that week and would have been fine.

But...there have probably been sporting events on September 11, but since I don't follow any sports, it didn't come to mind.

It feels icky to me. I don't watch anymore, because I've reached that horrible age where I don't recognize any of the artists, but it feels weird to me to hold such an event on that day.
