myself I didn't need to finish every book I start. Before that, there was only one book I didn't finish: Stephen King's Gerald's Game (because torture porn/kink isn't really my thing). Now I'll usually not finish 2-3 books a year.

Another thing I've started doing that I never used to do: skipping ahead to the last page or chapter. Sometimes I'm willing to finish a not-so-great book but I want to see how it comes out first.
