joint birthday dinner. We pick a day between our two birthdays (his was at the end of August, mine is Monday) and go somewhere nice for dinner and an hour or two of catching up. I'm honored that he enjoys this tradition as much as I do and doesn't mind spending some of his valuable free time with his old aunty.

I had some time to kill before dinner so I stopped at a local church for their annual "This and That" rummage sale. This is the first time I've gone to it, though they've had it for years. When I pulled in, the cars were mostly parked around the back of the building, and there were "sale" signs pointing to the church's outdoor picnic shelter. It took me all of maybe three minutes to walk through the small selection of sporting goods, pet supplies and rusty hand tools and realize there was nothing I wanted. I was disappointed, and a little surprised that there wasn't the usual glassware, old jewelry, books and other things you'd typically find at a rummage sale. It wasn't until I was driving out of the parking lot that I realized there was more inside the church.

That wasn't even the embarrassing part <g>...

I turned around, parked again and went into the church. THERE was the glassware, old jewelry, books and other things you'd typically find at a rummage sale (no clothes though--that seems to be a thing with many garage/yard/rummage sales these days). I looked around and found a place where I could fill a small paper bag with greeting cards for $1. I also found two paperback books, one already on my "to read" list. Finally, I found this...thing...in with the glassware/household goods. It's a metal outline of a fish, with beautiful rhinestone scales. I couldn't decide what it was...votive candle holder? Small picture frame? I asked the woman at the checkout what it was...she said "50 cents". Eh, for only half a dollar, it was worth it, even if I wasn't terribly sure what it was.

After looking at it a bit more, I saw it had a plastic backing that looked like you could attach it to something: a cubicle wall, maybe your car's sun visor. And then I noticed there was a not unpleasant smell emanating from the item. I turned it over again and this time, I noticed the writing on the back...

"Bath and Body Works Scentportable"

Yep, basically I'd bought a used air freshener 🤦‍♀️ It's pretty though. I clipped it to my car's visor because the fish kind of matches the whole blue ocean vibe my car has going on.

This is what I bought, only the outline is silver, not gold, and the clip is plastic turquoise, not a cute metal bow...
