At least with a TV show or movie you can "put a face" to someone. So I'd definitely get confused if I was reading more than one book at a time. And if I'm reading a sequel to a book and they bring up a name and I'm like "Yeah, I've totally forgotten who that was. I need a refresher". Especially if it's been a minute since I read the previous book in the series.
