wrote very much the way he spoke. I could hear his voice the whole time I was reading the book. It felt very authentic and honest. Iโ€™d been meaning to read this for a long time (It was written in 2000.). The recent news that there is a Bourdain biopic in the works at A24 sparked me to get around to reading Kitchen Confidential:Adventures in the Culinary Underbelly. It covers Bourdainโ€™s life from childhood through his early 40s when he was the chef at Les Halles in NYC before his television career began. Sadly, in a way, this book makes his shocking suicide in 2018 slightly less surprising.
