Seriously, I am in love with this series. I laughed, I cried, I felt it ALL. I tell people about it and they say, “hockey?” Yes, hockey. But as I always try to explain, hockey is just the thing that brings the characters together. I’m almost afraid to read more Bachman, because I can’t imagine anything living up to Bear Town.
I know I'm the odd one out here, but Sea of Tranquility was a Did Not Finish for me...I enjoyed the Station Eleven book though (never watched the series).
I understand that. I didn’t love parts — the beginning in particular was kind of a snooze — but when the various strands of the story finally came together, I was impressed.
I had the exact same reaction to The Lincoln Highway. I had high expectations because I thought it would be one thing, which was a very small part of the novel...I ended up liking it overall, but I wanted more of the road trip/experiences on the Lincoln Highway.
It was the relationships between the main characters that finally drew me in, and I loved that the ending felt just.
One of these days I'll get around to American Dirt!
