I'm signed up for birthday rewards from a few places. One is a small, independent bakery that I usually love. I've had baked goods from there ranging in quality from good to "this might be the best thing I've ever eaten", with most of what I've bought landing closer to the "best thing ever" end of the taste scale.

Today before work, I stopped in at the bakery and used a birthday coupon, and my Visa, to pick up a quintet of goodies. The slice of cheesecake consumed at lunch time was amazing. After work, I came home, enjoyed a light dinner, and grabbed a cookie I'd bought at the bakery earlier today...

...and bit into a hair.

The hair was definitely NOT mine. It was too short, too straight, and oh yeah, it wasn't ON the cookie, it was literally IN the cookie. Now finding a stranger's hair is not a huge "ick" for me but it's definitely not an enjoyable experience. I obviously didn't eat the hair (ewwwww) but I did eat around the part of the cookie with the hair in it because I'm not rich enough to waste food like that. When I went online later and checked my e-mail, I discovered the online receipt with the usual accompanying "how was your experience?" survey. The first time I went to this bakery, I took the (very short) survey and gave them a big smiley face and a great review. After that, I felt I'd done my part; I don't need to review them every single time I purchase something there.

But...should I let them know this time about the hair in my cookie? I'm not looking for a refund, nor do I want some kind of complimentary item but maybe I should at least inform them that someone in the kitchen needs to tie their hair back and wear a hair net? FWIW, I think the survey with the online receipt is only seen by the business, not by other customers.

WWSZD?
