I’ve never had a fireplace. My parents had a fireplace in their Florida house but they never used it. Maybe they used it a few times the first year they were in that house but that was it. They built the house so it’s a mystery why they chose to build a fireplace in a Florida house. Thankfully they also built a pool.

As I said to Phillyjen, the only place I’ve ever built fires is on the beach (Montauk) and I love doing that.
