I'm generally not a fan of giving kids a name that's also a common noun

(think Apple, Jet, and yes, Democracy), although some have been common for so long, I rarely blink when I hear the name (Destiny, River, etc.). And some are so old, I forget they're also common nouns (Faith, Hope and Charity, for example). So no, not crazy about "Democracy" as a kid's name but also not surprised. If I were little Democracy, I might go by "Demi" or "Mo"...or my middle name <g>.

I heard a doozy the other day...I was watching an episode of House Hunters featuring a young single mom, and she mentioned her son who looked to be maybe 6 or 7. At first, I was *sure* I heard the child's name wrong, but then she said it again. And again. The boy's name? Havoc. Why on earth would you give your kid a name with a negative connotation?
