On the one hand, it stinks for anyone to lose their job, or not get hired, just because they're, ah, a bit more seasoned. OTOH, it's good to give new talent a chance. I've always thought it was weird that Hallmark movies feature the same actors over and over; maybe that's a comfort to some but I would find it odd if I watched one Hallmark movie with HRP playing a high-powered executive who goes back to her small hometown and falls for the Christmas tree farmer and then the next night watched a movie with HRP playing...a high-powered executive who goes back to her small hometown and falls for the guy who bakes everyone Christmas cookies.

What I *really* think is the problem here is Hallmark holiday movies all having the same theme: young(er) person ditches old (usually financially successful) life in favor of small town living with the <fill in the occupation of choice>. TBH, it's not impossible to write movies about seniors finding love but most of Hollywood just doesn't seem interested in doing so.
