I got accustomed to "tortilla" soup having a melty, cheesy base so it's always a bit of a surprise to me when tortilla soup has a broth-y base. Anyways, the M&E closed (I like the restaurant that took over the space--Another Broken Egg Cafe--but it's only open for breakfast and lunch), and I've been searching for a suitable replacement for their tortilla soup.
