Did everyone have a good weekend?
Yep -- sort of the official start of festivities, as my friend visited from out of town, braving the Taylor crowds, to go to Christmas market.
and then on Sunday I went to the One of a Kind show, which is a giant crafts fair that my brother's GF is a vendor at -- and I do mean giant. At the end of the day, I had walked five miles, almost entirely inside the building. My mother, both brothers, my SIL, an aunt, a niece, a cousin, a nephew and then my brother's GF's brother & wife were all there, so it was 50% craft show, 50% family reunion.
That's awesome! Did you all plan to be there, or was it mostly coincidence?
How is your workweek looking?
A bit dull. It's so dreary in Toronto it's sort of hard to have any distinct feeling right now.
I also have a good friend whose mother has just been put on palliative care, so I'm keeping a close eye on that situation.
oh I'm so sorry to hear that. any time is hard, but right before christmas is horrible - i know this from experience.
will it be busy or slow? Any vacation time planned?
Thankfully I work for an employer who shuts down for two weeks every December.
that IS nice! my company shuts down for 1 day in December and its just kind of painful.
It's the unofficial / official start of the HOLIDAY SEASON, people!!
Canada had Thanksgiving a month ago, but I'm going to pause to complain here that I've been seeing Black Friday and Pre-Black Friday sales for weeks now and we don't HAVE Black Friday here. It's 100% appropriation and it's annoying. Just have a sale, guys.
ahhhhh, i see. Well, 'Black Friday' here has stretched into October, so I'm not sure anyone should still be using the term.
Are you traveling? Staying home?
I was home this weekend, but I'll be away for at least part of the next three weekends.
i am home the whole time. when I was younger, it was travel the whole time and I like staying home, more.
Making your lists and checking them twice?
I really do need to do that. I have bought for most of my friends, but my immediate family are so far completely untouched.
yeah, my family members are supposed to get me lists over the weekend.
Gearing up for any Black Friday sales or events?
See above. I will look at what's going on. But unless someone figures out what they want this weekend, I will likely have to wait a little longer to figure out what to get people.
honestly, i don't find the BF sales all that great - the last minute stuff I find on 12/21 are always a better deal.
Have your shopping cart stacked on Amazon ahead of Cyber Monday?
This is more likely -- though not necessarily Amazon. Cyber Monday annoys me less than Black Friday appropriation.
As i was saying to Sparky, as long as I get some lists, Cyber Monday sales are in my future. the older kids like shoes and specific brand-name items that are usually on sale on the brand web sites.
Are you decorating this weekend? Is your tree up already? I'm jealous if it is.
No tree, but I've put up lights and a few winter-specific decorations, so that I can keep them up. Maybe I'll get out the actively Christmas-y ones tonight.
i have 4 bits of Christmas up (2 of them i bought recently, so do they really count as being 'taken out'?) and my fall wreath. i must harmonize for 1 season....after the tree goes up.
