home hospice for a couple of weeks, and he went into a rapid decline starting around January 27.
He became fully bed-ridden in recent days, and didn't even have the strength to speak on the phone. Prior to this, it would take him 45 minutes to walk across the room. He had confusion and hallucinations. He was put on oxygen. His heart was barely beating :(
So, last week, they turned to just making him as comfortable as possible.
Yesterday, they started him on Morphine and Ativan.
He woke up from a nap today, told Judy he couldn't breathe, and passed right then and there. This is the uncle in AL.
While we all knew this was coming, I'm very sad. This was my last living uncle who would take me to his apartment in Rego Park, Queens (with my aunt) when I was little to give the 'rents a break from my drama LOL. I have a picture of the two of us out on 63rd Avenue when I was 6 or so. I remember that day. I think he took me to the park.
Anyway, he's resting in peace now, and is somewhere with his first wife Arlene, his brothers Larry (my dad), Walter and Shelly, and his parents Helen and Aaron :*(
I will likely take a trip to AL in March to see Judy.
