I've used CVS Photo to print hard copies of special pictures from my phone ("special"= almost all of them <g>). I would order them online and select store pick up, then I'd pay when I picked them up, which was usually the next day since I like to order the photos late at night. For quite a while, I was paying around 29 cents a photo, and CVS frequently sent me coupons in the mail for 20% or 30% off my order (of anything, not just photos), which made it, well, not cheap but not horribly expensive either.
It's been months since I last ordered photos. It's also been months since CVS sent me any kind of useful coupon. I recently got one for three whole dollars off (meh) and thought I'd order a few photos. But like I said, it's been a while, and I had a few events last year that I took a lot of pictures at, so "a few" turned out to be around 100 (yikes!). When I went to order, I noticed the price for a single 4x6 photo has gone up to 40 cents when you ask for next day pick up in the store (more yikes!). The price dropped to 18 cents/photo if you have them shipped to your house, so I chose that option...it's going to take almost 3 weeks for them to arrive (the final yikes!). Three weeks, when our dinky little store here in our dinky little town can print them in less than an hour.
I get it. (Almost)Nobody is printing out photos anymore unless it's a single special photo you want to frame or something. Demand has dropped so of course the price has gone up. But double? Surely there's a better deal out there. If you know of one--if you get pictures developed with a different service for a lot less--please share!
