My mail carrier dropped off two packages that were too big for my mailbox, rang the doorbell, and got back into his vehicle. I'd gotten to the door, picked up the packages and was walking to my mailbox next to the curb after he'd driven off, when he yelled to me from the neighbor's mailbox, "Don't forget the post office food drive this Saturday!"
I told him that I had two cases of vegetables ready. He gave me a thumbs up and went on his way.
I think they're hoping to win.
This Saturday is the US Postal Service food drive (Stamp Out Hunger) with the food going to local food banks. My food bank director said that he hopes to get several tons of food, enough to last a few months. It's usually a youth service project at my church, since we run the city's food bank.
Be generous with your unexpired, unopened food. It really helps.
