two ice trays came with the fridge/freezer when we bought it and we did keep them both filled and 'at the ready' in the freezer, but... they kept getting in the way. and we use ice SO infrequently that the cubes would evaporate and get funny tasting before we used it.
so then i was dumping out and refilling the trays to have fresh ice on hand that we never used.
next i went down to 1 tray and after a month or two of that, i just put them in the cabinet.
when i think i'm going to want an icy cold drink or a cocktail, i'll toss the ice tray in the freezer, but honestly? nine times out of ten i won't, then i just won't have that cocktail.
i also tried the plastic cubes you toss and leave in the freezer, but they actually gave my drinks a plastic-like taste, so I sold those at the yard sale for .25 cents.
