Some backstory: Dad and I split the chores around the house. We both cook. I shop for groceries a bit more than he does; he does the dishes a bit more than I do. He never dusts or wipes down surfaces unless there's a spill, I vacuum a bit less and almost never mop. We both clean the bathroom and keep our own rooms tidy. One chore he claims almost exclusively as his is laundry...but I *hate* his method of doing laundry. Basically, he throws everything in the washing machine and washes it all on warm. Often, the wet clothes sit in the washing machine, sometimes over an hour, while he does other stuff (he's even left the house with the clothes in the washer and not returned for several hours). Then he tosses everything straight into the dryer and dries everything for roughly 45 minutes...and then sometimes the laundry sits in the dryer for an hour or so. All of that results in a lot of wrinkles and shirt hems permanently flipped up...anyways, as I mentioned, I tossed a pair of dark blue jeans in the hamper last week without thinking about if they'd been washed before (I tend to wash jeans once every 6-8 wearings or so if they're not actually stained). Also in the wash: a Chico's v-neck t-shirt that's white with large black, magenta and gold leaves on the right shoulder and at the bottom of the left side. Which is now a Chico's v-neck t-shirt that's white with large black, magenta and gold leaves on the right shoulder and at the bottom of the left side...AND big light blue blotches all over :-(
It's particularly distressing that this particular shirt was ruined because a) I've only worn it twice and b) my spring/summer business-appropriate wardrobe is sadly lacking, and I just don't have the funds to go out and buy a bunch of other shirts. I was particularly proud of how I acquired THIS shirt: it was hanging in the back room, on a final sale, at a time when our store was doing a BOGO sale (corporate is trying to make our store a no-clearance store because of how tiny it is; I have...a lot of thoughts about that). And it looked SUPER cute with my brown jeans and brown faux leather jacket with a metallic gold sheen.
I guess I can think of this shirt as the "GO" part of the "BOGO" sale and thus it didn't really cost me anything. But dang, I wish I'd been able to wear it (at work) a few more times at least.
- Iām sorry that happened to your shirt. I would insist on doing my own laundry so - Kitchop - 13-May-2025 11:33 AM
- I can't say that this has happened to me. But, I do find it odd that only - Capricorn - 13-May-2025 10:40 AM
