kitchen and lots of local restaurants. I feel like you don’t get to explore the local area if you’re in an AI plus AIs tend to encourage people to eat and drink too much. There are plenty of inexpensive restaurants and food trucks to explore here so I can control how much I spend. I only drink maybe three or four margaritas a day (some days only two and occasionally a day with no margaritas) and I have no interest in all-you-can eat buffets. Many days I only end up eating two meals a day — brunch and dinner; maybe an appetizer with happy hour drinks. I can see the appeal of an AI for families with teen boys who eat like horses though.
I usually eat at the restaurants but when feeling lazy, most of them deliver. So I eat a few restaurant meals on my patio which has a view of the turquoise sea. I’m staying at a place that has an onsite restaurant that does beach service so I can get food and drinks brought to my lounger/umbrella on the beach. I keep some pesos in a dive safe on a string tied to my strap and stuffed into my bathing suit. I pay for lunch, iced coffees, margaritas, etc with wet pesos (My dive safe is leaking; I need a new one).
This place is managed like a hotel but the units are all individually owned condos and each one can be very different in the way they are decorated and what they have in them. I don’t really need the full kitchen but it’s nice to be able to keep ice cream in the freezer and make a few simple things like avocado toast or microwave things that come home in doggy bags.
