been on a jury once*. At the time, I was working 8 hours a day at the bindery, on my feet; it was kind of nice to sit down for the day's "work". Also, the judge we had started court at 9:00 (I was used to having to be at work at 7:00 AM) and rarely went past 3:00 (I was used to working till 3:30 PM) and usually gave us a 90 minute lunch break (I was used to wolfing down lunch in a little under 30 minutes). The bindery paid me for every day I was off, plus the court gave me $40/day. I couldn't understand why people complained so much about jury duty <g>.

* I've been called multiple times; I spent 4 hours once waiting for jury selection only to be told the defendant pled guilty and waived his right to a trial but the rest of the time, I was dismissed the night before so I didn't even need to go downtown (All but one of the times I've been notified I was in a jury pool, it was for federal court downtown)

All joking aside though, I feel everyone should serve on a jury once just to have a better understanding how our court system works. I hope your jury duty on Friday goes as smoothly as mine did.
