Free stuff <g>. So before I did some grocery shopping for Sunday's cookout, I swung by a (semi) nearby Krispy Kreme and got a strawberry glazed donut with sprinkles...AND a free paper hat. I wasn't going to get the hat, let alone put it on, but there were several guys in line in front of me (two were together, one had just driven through the drive-thru and found out that he could get a free donut, so he came inside), and two of them had their hats on, which gave me the courage to put one on as well. I had a really nice chat with the gentleman in front of me (the one who'd gone through the drive-thru); I told him I liked his bracelets. One was beautiful brown and green natural round stones and was from New Orleans, one was a band with an inspirational saying on it about being kind to yourself and others and one was a band with rainbow hearts and "love wins" on it. I was also really impressed with how nice everyone behind the counter was. I imagine they've been busy today and as a fellow worker who has to deal with the public, I'm sure there were folks who demanded a second free donut or whined because even though there were a dozen different flavors, they didn't have the one the person wanted, but everyone was pleasant and cheerful and man, they were cranking out the donuts.
