property tax and home insurance will cost. A lot of new home owners get blindsided by those expenses. When we inherited my mom’s house (and owned it for six months), her property tax was around $700. The year after we sold it, the new owners paid around $5,500 in property taxes for the same house. Don’t even get me started on home owners insurance.
