here a while still ask questions of others and get help/answers or at least a direction to go to get the answers. That to me speaks well of the culture. It's helpful not mean-spirited.
We have "bagel Fridays" and get a food truck once/month from May-September/October (I need to double-check that). The company gives everyone a coupon and will pay for whatever you buy.
If someone is out? They send a blast email asking for people to cover their communities so that they don't come back to a ton of work. Everyone helps everyone else because you don't always know when you'll need the help.
