Actress Eva Victor wrote and directed it (her directorial debut) and starred in it. She plays an English Lit graduate student/professor (it takes place over a few years) who is sexually assaulted. It is semi-autobiographical and is about the way she deals with the assault. Eva Victor went through this experience herself and her film feels very emotionally honest. It also achieves pairing humor with a very serious subject which, if not done well, can be absolutely horrible. She does it well. I highly recommend it if you like this sort of thing. It’s A24 so it should eventually show up streaming on HBO Max.
It was nominated for two awards at Sundance and won the Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award. It was also nominated for three awards at Cannes.
