after we first got cable in 1981, I started watching, and loving, the Cubs. They became my favorite NL team and I begged the folks to take me to Cincinnati to see a Reds-Cubs game (I knew I could never talk them into going to Chicago). Of course the Cubs traded my favorite player--shortstop Larry Bowa--just two weeks before our trip to see the Cubs in Cincy in 1985, but it wasn't too bad as Ryne Sandburg was, at that time, my second favorite Cubs player.
