Both my knees would hyper extend(?)...they'd bow backwards, and there had been popping as they rotated for years, probably since I was a child. Then, the right knee suddenly felt tight about six months ago. About two months ago, I couldn't straighten it all the way and it felt tight behind the knee. Then, a few weeks ago, the kneecap would try to slid to the outside if I rolled to the right.
The PT guru basically said that my body had been compensating for other parts not working, but now the calf and thigh muscles don't engage the kneecap/knee properly, so the kneecap kinda wanders. I have to work on strengthening the calf and the thigh muscles (wake them up and make them perform their proper functions).
This is causing my hips, lower back, and chest muscles to revolt. Some of the exercises that work on the core are making muscles I haven't used much, if at all, since I left the military decades ago complain independently and as a group.
I'm probably not helping the situation by overdoing it when things start to feel better. I'm trying to rush this, but that's just slowing things down.
I don't swim, walk, or do anything involving both legs because of the nerve issue with the left leg. It's interesting, but I do want my right leg to work relatively well. The struggle is real!!!!!!
