"The Monkey". It's based on a Stephen King short story but the movie is more black comedy than horror but I really liked it. The plot is a cursed toy that when wound up causes a random, awful, gory death. I'd give it a B+. (Director is Osgood "Oz" Perkins, son of Anthony Perkins and he described the film as being about the randomness of death as it has affected his own life, with his parents.)
"Clown In A Cornfield". Your pretty standard teen slasher film but it was fun. It's definitely not re-investing the genre but I liked the humor of it and appreciated a twist involving the traditional "love triangle". I'd give it a B-. Not going to wow anyone but it's entertaining. The plot is teenager girl moves with her father to a small rural town where a deranged clown is murdering people.
I just watched the trailer. I will have to check this out, when it's streaming for free. Looks fun. The inability to work the rotary phone 😂
