M&M dispenser made from a wooden base and an upside down mason jar (it's kind of hard to explain) that Mom got at a craft show decades ago and for quite a while now, it was always filled with M&Ms, first milk chocolate and then later, dark chocolate. I still remember my niece and nephew asking for "M M Ms" when they were old enough to not choke on the candy.
But now? Not only is it increasingly hard to find dark chocolate M&Ms (too many other flavors), the price shot way up. We used to get the "party" size bag for around $7 (and complain about how much it was); now that same bag is around $11. We sometimes go a couple weeks without M&Ms, and we ration them somewhat when we do have them.
OTOH...when I was at the salvage grocery store the other day, I picked up 3 bars of Ferrero Rocher dark chocolate with hazelnuts for only 3/$1. They're a week past their "best by" date and a tiny bit dry but very tasty!
