exactly what I was doing (and more driving up as I was leaving).

whole idea of this sort of swap is to give things you no longer want to people who can actually use them rather than throwing them in a garbage landfill. It’s very green. And similar to shopping at a flea market or thrift store, you got a few things that you can use as gifts, except they were free.

Exactly! It's green. It's useful. It's fun. And it appeals to my love of a good "hunt" <g>.

Regarding the long narrow ceramic dish, could it be an olive boat/dish? Does it look anything like this olive boat/dish (I’ve heard them called both olive boats and olive dishes)?

I believe it is! Thank you for solving the mystery. I don't eat olives but it might be fun to fill with some other type of hors d'oeuvre. Totally off topic but...every time I see the word "hors d'oeuvre" now, I think of the Aldi commercial with the man serving "horse doovers" to his wife's book club ("Horse doovers?" "It's French for "mouth snack"). Love, love, love that commercial! I'd post a link to it but as often as it pops up when I'm watching YouTube, I got nothing when Googling the commercial.
