Yesterday the plumber came to install the water line that allows me to have a spigot in the backyard on both sides of the house. This is especially important since I plan to have a fire feature (fairly large, woodburning fire pit) installed as part of the landscaping. Landscaping starts on 22 September.
The plumber also looked at the new sink, faucet, and disposal/composter. He'd hoped to be able to install it yesterday, too, but he couldn't. He's drafting an estimate which will probably have to be approved and then sent to me later. He's a guy my daughter knows and he's one of the owner's sons. The owner is the son of the main plumber in town whose two(?) other brothers also opened plumbing businesses while one inherited/took over the original one using the family name. I told the plumber who was on site, "It doesn't really matter what you charge since I was going to hire you to do the work. You're my plumbers. Not a good bargaining strategy, huh?" He smiled and said they'd still give me a good price. I said that was why I hired them and why they're my plumbers.
I went to an Azure Standard pick up, so I missed the final installation details (good work, of course) and the review of the sink plan. I know they know their stuff, but I prefer to discuss options and do a mental walk through to get as many variables solidified as possible before we start the job. The plumber asked me a few questions on the water line part, some were unforeseen and some were just verifying as we moved along because they were detail things. We discussed painting as an option, where to move a spigot, foam for a part that wasn't in the insulation tube because of a sharp turn in the line. Oh, the line was a PEX (plastic) one, not a metal one. We'll see if we're happy with that in the long run. It's attached to the wall near the rafters.
I missed a meeting because I was listening to a video and fell asleep. Oops. Someone sent me the notes. I'll draft the minutes. I'm the Administrator. I hated the title "secretary."
I called the plumbers before I sent a payment, to make sure they hadn't added extra charges. Same price. Why they're my plumbers.
