but it's VERY loosely based on Stephen King's book, The Colorado Kid.
The Colorado Kid is King's attempt - a very good one - in the old fashioned pulp fiction category. Short, generally "who done it" detective novels that can generally be read in one or two sittings, like on a train ride or as the publisher puts it, at the laundromat.
i became obsessed with the story for one winter back in 2021, tho the book at that time was almost 20 year old.
so Haven takes the town and the general story of Colorado Kid and weaves it into a town where "strange things happen" and "ordinary people are anything but" and man, it is a hot mess. 4 episodes in and there have already been people controlling the weather with their minds, dreams becoming reality, etc. they are only NOW getting into the Colorado Kid story, so i'm not even sure i'll last past the first season.
and the acting isn't really that good, either.
